About Us

Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

I Said “NO”

Categories: News, Photos, Porter, Alice — J @ 5:57 pm

Another of Porter’s new phrases is “I said no!.” We’re not sure where he got this phrase from as we never use it. But we’re hearing it a lot. An awful lot. Friday night we were hearing it near constantly because Porter did not want to have three bites of the Mexican food we were having for dinner. In fact, it was just some rice we wanted him to try.

Alice pointing out that Porter was up to no good.

Porter thinks if he covers his mouth then he won’t have to eat anything.

A Toast to Dinner

Categories: Photos, Porter, Alice, Family — J @ 10:35 am

After the park, Porter and Alice went to dinner at a local restaurant where they feasted on spaghetti, pizza and french fries. Porter insisted that they must clink glasses before they could drink from them. I’m not sure where he learned that, but it wasn’t from us.

Now it’s okay to drink.

Alice, wearing most of her dinner, tries to join in with her glass.

Thursday at the Park

Categories: Photos, Porter, Alice — J @ 8:47 am

Thursday Porter and Alice’s grandparents took them first to Bodega Bay and then to their local park in Cotati. I’m not sure if they were trying to tire them out, but it didn’t work.

Alice can’t stand still long enough to be photographed. She must keep moving.
