About Us

Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

Crafty Balls

Categories: Photos, J — J @ 4:39 pm

I wanted to give the family something from the kids this year so I scoured the internet for craft ideas. I never found exactly what I was looking for but I got enough ideas to visit our local craft store. There I formulated a craft idea based on the materials I could find and this is the result.

I used large glass balls and took two wallet size pictures of the kids and glued red and green streamers to their back and then glued them together. Then I rolled them up and inserted them into the ball. Then I dropped in red, green and white crystals along with tiny pine cones. Ta da! A personalized ornament.

Continuing our tradition of wishing for peace in the world by celebrating the 4,000-year old original holiday instead of celebrating upstart 2,000-year old fairy tales, this is the photo that accompanied our holiday card this year.

He did all the gluing and coloring, helped with the cutting; but the planning, materials and text were provided by his teachers.
