Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

Counter Surfing
While the rain pounded outside, the kids were bored inside. Alice desperately wanted to get up on the kitchen counter again so while Sarah took a nap, I let her up. She crawled arounf a bit but focused on the bread and some strawberries that were in a bowl on the counter.
“Bread. Yum!”
“It’s umm, umm good.”
“I like being taller.”
Comfortable on the counter.
“Can I have another strawberry? Please, Daddy?“

New year, new goals. What are your resolutions for 2006?
Fal: Brewer, Author, Gentleman Farmer
I could tell you what Fal’s real name is, but then you’d find flowers for me on my grave so best not. I first met Fal when he was brewing at Pike Place in Seattle several years ago but got to know him better when he moved to California to be the GM at Anderson Valley Brewing Co. in Boonville. He recently moved to Singapore to build a craft brewery for Archipelago Brewery, a division of Asia Pacific Breweries. It sounded like the chance of a lifetime and Fal jumped at it. He’s blogging the experience in his blog, Brewing in Singapore, which of course is in my blogroll if you want to follow along.
I’m not sure whose hat this is, but I have pictures of over a dozen people wearing it at the Elysian party at the Oregon Brewers Festival in 2003.

Rockin’ Morning
The new year began with sheets of rain flooding Marin so we stayed in and hunkered down all day. Alice watched the Wiggles as much as possible, when Porter wasn’t insisting on Thomas or Winnie the Pooh.
Alice rocks out.
