About Us

Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

Smelting

Categories: Photos, Porter — J @ 4:06 pm

Today for show & tell Porter took his new smelting yard to school today.

Porter demonstrates how to smelt, which is, of course, to melt or fuse ores or other metals in order to separate the metallic constituents.

Porter shows how the freight car comes up to the smelting yard to pick up recently smelted metals.

Alice is a Well Baby

Categories: News, Photos, Alice — J @ 2:48 pm

Alice had her eighteen month well-baby appointment today and was declared fit as a fiddle. She’s still below the chart weight-wise, but she’s grown like a weed as far as her height goes and she now tops off at 32 inches.

Splish Splash

Categories: Photos, Porter, Alice — J @ 1:33 pm

Last night’s bath devolved into a giant splashing party. Porter started by splashing with his feet but Alice jumped right in and splashed him back. There was water everywhere but there were only winners in this game.

If you look closely, you can see beads of splashed water suspended in the air.

Strapped In

Yesterday when the grandparents were ready to go, I ducked into the car to say goodbye, and got an unusually good photo of Porter strapped in his car seat.

Run to Grandpa

Categories: Photos, Alice, Family — J @ 9:36 am

Alice, looking speedy in her cheetah outfit, was very happy to see Grandpa yesterday. She ran to him as soon as she saw him.

Grandpa!

Here I come!

Happy to be outside.

Made it to Grandpa.

Look, now Grandpa’s happy to be outside, too. Hmm, I wonder. Did I have something to do with that?
