Sarah got me a new camera for my birthday back in March. At least that was the plan. The camera I picked out, the Panasonic DMC-TZ1, was brand new and then wasn’t available until May 1, so I had to wait two excruciating months to get my birthday present. Well I finally got it two days ago and I’m very excited about it. It has great specs and has some cool features I really wanted, such as a 10x optical zoom in a pretty small package. This makes it ideal for work and the blog because it’s still very portable but is much more versatile than my old Canon. Plus it has a Leica lens which makes the quality of photos leaps and bounds better. I’m already noticing a difference. Posts going forward will almost all be taken with the new camera so I’ll be changing the icon I use to the one here.

This is our fifth wacky acronym or name that’s computer generated using some theme. This one determines What Animal Are You?. You type in your first and last name, and voilà, it tells what animal you are. Let us know what you are.

Yesterday while Porter was at his Montessori, Alice and I drove into San Francisco to pick up a six-pack of the new 21st Amendment Watermelon Wheat in cans that I needed for a beer tasting tonight. It was fun seeing friends and having a few beers. And Alice had a great time gnawing on the watermelon slices.

Porter had so much fun taking the photos in the mirror with the camera’s self-timer that he asked to do it again the next day. These are some of the results.
