About Us

Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

Chantal: Ch-ch-ch-changes

PART

Over the years, both Chantal and I have had more then a few life-altering changes to contend with. Here are a few of hers (and mine).

Chantal and her then-paramour at my 33 1/3 birthday party.

Chantal and me at my wedding to Sarah. She was one of my groomspeople.

Chantal: California Years

PART

Chantal lived in California from the mid-1980s until around 1994.

Freshly arrived in California.

At her cousin’s wedding in Vail. That’s Chantal’s sister to her right in the black flowered dress. Sadly, she passed away over twelve years ago.

Chantal and Bogart, her dog with whom we traveled across the country.

Chantal: Friend, Sparring Partner

Categories: Photos, Birthdays, Friends — J @ 9:22 am

I’ve known my great friend Chantal for over twenty years now. We met in North Carolina — where I lived for about three years or so — and in fact we moved out to California together when she started law school. We’ve remained close friends ever since, even though she moved back to the south to help out her ungrateful family right around the time Sarah and I first met, which was a dozen years ago. She now lives in Austin with her son — my godson — Ari.

Even as a baby, Chantal had a piercing stare.

What, maybe five, six?

I love the cheeseball backdrop and the book as prop.

Here comes adolescence!

Eating — what else — fondue in Switzerland.
