Celebrating 2008, The Year of Invisible Posts — It’s Not Your Eyes
Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

This is our ninth wacky acronym or name that’s computer generated using some theme, having skipped last week due to the bi-birthday shenanigans. This one determines your Vampire Name. I chose this one today for my sister-in-law Margaret, who likes vampires and is going through a rough time right now. You type in your first and last name, and voilà, it tells what your vampire name is. Let us know what yours is.
Here are our are vampire names:
Jay = Uriel du Coudray a.k.a. Gawain of The Highway Thieves.
Porter = Baron of The Ghastly a.k.a. the Scourge of Russia
Sarah = Sorceress of Drac a.k.a. Poison of Bats and Shadows
Alice = Empress of The Ghastly ak.a. the Scourge of Beggars and Lepers
The other day while at the toy store, we picker of umbrellas for the kids. Porter, of course, chose a Buzz Lightyear umbrella and Alice picked an Elmo one. When it rained lightly the other week, they practiced with their umbrellas using the relative safety of the garage as a base of operations.

Porter steps out into the rain with his Buzz Lightyear umbrella.

Then Alice tentatively joined him.

Though she was less concerned about getting wet.
I got an e-mail last night from an old friend many of you know. Dan Deshara, one-half of the defunkt (pun intended) Danny James Trio, took up acting at least a decade ago. He’s appeared on the television show Nash Bridges and in such films as The Joy Luck Club and Cherish, according to his resume. He’s got a website up, Intelligent Vapor, if you want to catch up with him. It looks like he’s still playing the ocassional music gig, too. It was nice to hear frm him.

Finally the time had come for us to be rescued from Gilligan’s Island. You can only have so many wacky adventures before it’s time to go.

Alice, who skipped her morning nap, sacked out on Sarah’s chest during the walk back to the ferry landing.

Waiting for our ferry to arrive, Porter told Sam that he loved her.

Our ferry boat arrives.

Fog engulfs part of the Golden Gate bridge as we make our escape.

The castaways watch as civilization comes back into view.

A seagull heralds the approaching mainland.

While a blue-sailed boat skips across the water behind us.

Behind it is the island where we were stranded for over twenty-four hours.

Back on the mainland, Porter, Sam and Suzanne take in the sights of the metropolis of Tiburon.
