About Us

Welcome to the Brookston family blog. We'll post updates here on what's going on in our part of the world, and especially with our son, Porter, who has been diagnosed with some form of autism. Our hope is that this blog will help us deal with all the issues we'll be facing and keep our friends and family informed as well.

Bye to Tuck

Categories: General — J @ 2:45 pm

We had a great time at Debbie and Tuck’s Father’s Day barbecue but eventually it was time to go. The kids were exhausted and Porter in particular was not happy about leaving. He loves his Uncle Tuck.

So Tuck tried tickling him into a good mood.

But in the end Porter was very upset to go. C’est la vie.

The Balcony

Categories: Photos, Porter, Alice, Family — J @ 1:03 pm

The back patio at Tuck and Debbie’s has a balcony off the master bedroom overlooking it. Porter spent some time up there because that’s where the video player was located, which meant Alice was there sometimes, too. I got some interesting photos from and of the balcony.

Alice with Margaret’s phone from the balcony.

Up in the bedroom, Porter and I were drumming fast on Debbie’s exercise ball.

In Margaret’s arms, Alice give the assembled masses below a royal wave.

Down by the Docks

Categories: Photos, Porter, Family — J @ 10:11 am

Toward the end of the day on Saturday, as the light was beginning to fade, we took a walk down to the dock behind Tuck and Debbie’s place where — when they finally get around to getting another boat — it will be berthed.

Tuck and Porter walk along the dock.

Porter took a keen interest in the biggest boat there.

Although he wanted to go in the rowboat, too.

Father’s Day Snacking

Categories: Photos, Porter, Alice, Family, Food — J @ 7:59 am

After our swim on Saturday and before the barbecue we sat in Tuck and Debbie’s backyard and snacked and drank and talked. Alice developed a particular fondness for dipping her chips in guacamole.

Alice tries to get rid of her carrots without actualy eating them while Porter couldn’t wait to give Grandpa his Father’s Day gift from Margaret.

Alice leans in for a scoop of guacamole.

Then licked off the dip.

Going down for a chomp.

Psych. Teasing the chips in its remaining seconds of life.

Porter making a face in the sun.
